coaching philosophy & player growth

At Weston Youth Football, we believe in developing more than just athletes. Our program is built on technical excellence, strategic smarts, and a commitment to fostering leadership both on and off the field.

Coach

Coach David Drais

Dave has spent the last four years coaching at Weston High School, the last two serving as Head Coach.

A Cincinnati native, Dave continued his playing career after high school at Brown University where he played center all four seasons. He was a member of the 1999 Ivy League Championship Team that was ranked 25th in the Country (in I-AA) and the 2000 Bears squad that averaged 37.5 points per game.

Dave has lived in Weston since 2019 with his wife (Amy), kids (Willa, Oscar, Harry) and their loyal and ferocious Bernedoodle (Trixie). Almost without fail, Dave can be seen around town wearing Bengals Orange & Black or Trojans Blue & Gold.

What football means to Coach Dave:

“For me, football had such a significant impact on my life. It challenged me physically, mentally and emotionally; it pushed and enabled me to constantly find new limits on what my own potential was and most importantly, created close friendships, bonds and relationships that still carry over to today, almost 35 years after I first put on a helmet and shoulder pads.”

Coach Geoff Baldwin

Experienced Youth Coach

For over 7 years, Geoff has been coaching travel and rec baseball, football and basketball teams in Westport and Weston.

Dad Athlete
Outside of coaching Geoff still plays in various men’s baseball leagues throughout the Tri-State area. He recently was the Player/Coach of the 18+ Run N Gun Collegiate team which played in the West Haven Twilight League.

Small Town Football Experience

Geoff grew up playing football in Kentucky, in a town of a similar size to Weston. While Beechwood HS was one of the smallest schools in the state, Geoff played on back to back State Championship teams and understands what it is like to grow up in a tight-knit community that builds character through athletics.

Sports Entrepreneur
Geoff is an industrial designer and the founder of the flag football brand WIN WIN Athletics, makers of the most inclusive flag football gear on the planet and sponsors of the Women’s National Football Conference.
